Folk Song is an emergent ensemble inspired by the common ground between Hindustani music and Traditional Irish music. This act of musical collaboration has been a catalyst for music that both references and defies traditional music. Indian polyrhythms overlap the poignancy of airs, while the poetry of raga and Irish melody meet on common ground. Folk Song considers this new music as an extension of the organic, living document that is tradition, ever evolving within the times it finds itself in. Folk Song was conceived of by sitarist/composer Galen Passen.
