Come join Jalopy's Tuesday Night Community Sing, where we will gather together each week to sing from a wide repertoire in a casual, supportive, fun and community-oriented setting! Led by musician and teacher Ali Dineen, this weekly sing will be a place to meet other singers, experiment and grow as a vocalist and musician, and build a musical community that we hope will grow over many years. Although this isn't as formal as a choir, we will develop a repertoire of music that will be revisited over the course of the season and in seasons to come. In this way, the Tuesday Night Sing is different from a normal class cycle because we can go deep and return to what we've worked on in the past.

As for repertoire, we'll cover everything from pop songs (the Beach Boys, The Platters) to country (Dolly Parton & the Trio Album) to traditional music (sea shanties, Georgian healing songs, American folk music) and lots of other beloved music, as well as songs that people in the group are excited to sing. There will be opportunities for solos, as well as opportunities to build smaller ensembles within the larger group, and occasional performances in low-key settings, most likely on the stage of the Jalopy Theatre. Ali will use a variety of teaching methods, from sheet music to interval scores to ear training; sight-reading will be helpful but is certainly not required, and all levels of singers are welcome. Weekly attendance is not required, but being able to attend 75% of the classes is preferred for continuity's sake.

We are offering a sliding scale payment option for this class, starting at $250. Below you can find recommendations for what to pay based on your income level.
