'Emerge' symbolizes the unbound energy of music.
It is the result of a virtual meeting, of the sitar & drums, with the reality of a shared heartbeat of the universality of music. Felipe's drums from Rio de Janeiro, add pulse to the resonance of Laila's sitar in the USA as she weaves melodies of ragas.
Laila presents three Indian classical raags (ragas) each depicting a distinctive mood or emotion to which Felipe's drums reverberate. Each raag is introduced with an 'Alap' , a meditative solo sitar segment, followed by rhythmic compositions based on the main melody that flows on with Laila's improvisational melodic conversations.
This musical collaboration strengthens the bonding of humanity in the darkest of times with the pandemic!
