Drop in for a one off lesson with Annie Keating!
In Jeff Tweedy’s new book “How to Write One Song,” Tweedy writes, “Most of the time, inspiration has to be invited.” Through a series of creative writing exercises, this weekly salon will invite inspiration in, freeing up collective creativity and busting through writers block (for all writers whether you are a songwriter, poet, novelist - this gathering welcomes all.) We will explore the techniques of “object writing,” one of the greatest creative writing tools, by picking an object - a real object - and writing about it for ten minutes all seven senses and then sharing with the group. For fans of the wonderful songwriter Gillian Welch, she held these weekly “object writing” salons for years, finding them indispensable to her own songwriting. We will also do word ladders, play creatively with rhymes and use phrases that emerge from the object writing to create phrases, poems and songs. Experienced songwriter Annie Keating (who has just released her 10th album), invites you to a weekly “writing salon” for those interested in being inspired and diving deeper into writing while at the same time overcoming any writer’s block. No writing experience necessary but also fine if you’re an experienced writer.
