RASA Presents: Flamenco! With Julia, Juan Pedro & Luis

We are excited to welcome Julia Patinella, Juan Pedro Jimenez and Luis Ossa once again to the RASA stage!
Their performance is memorizing and filled with emotion. They will play flamenco and some of the latin repertoire.
We will open the night at 7pm with the Jam session/curated open mic with guest artists. Julia, Juan Pedro and Luis will go on at 8:30.
Musicians are encouraged to bring their instrument, and we will have beer for them.

Julia Patinella is a multilingual singer and songwriter currently residing in Brooklyn, NY. After years of immersion as a Flamenco singer in southern Spain, Julia has developed several original musical projects in Spanish, Sicilian and English, that draw from her roots, her experience as a first-generation American female, and urgent socio-political themes. In her performances, she brings forth an expansive repertoire steeped in history and folk traditions, and a rich, guttural voice that carries the raw emotions of protest, the longing for freedom, and the uncompromising commitment to sing every note with soul. Julia is also a music educator and psychotherapist dedicating to using music as a tool for healing in collaboration with Carnegie Hall and Flamenco Vivo NYC, reaching thousands of refugee and immigrant children yearly throughout the U.S.
Juan Pedro Jimenez is a re-known flamenco teacher and professional artist ( guitarist and singer) A native of Cadiz, Andalusia grew up at the heart of flamenco music and since 2016 has been spreading it in New York circles with a group of other great flamenco artist like Yohanna Escamilla, Xianix Barrera, Alfonso Cid and Pedro Cortes.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the University of Cádiz (Spain). He has 20 years of experience as an educator and facilitator in the field of music, social, and cultural integration, as well as the dissemination and awareness of values related to artistic heritage and the environment. He is specialized in group dynamization. Using music as a tool for expressing feelings and emotions, increasing self-esteem, improving cognitive and social skills, sensory stimulation and facilitating relaxation.
Juan Pedro stays “We are all musical. Music works for all people regardless of age, gender, and nationality. And you do not need training or knowing an instrument enjoy the benefits of music therapy”
Finally, as part of his mission of service to humanity, Juan Pedro has created and developed rehabilitation projects for people in penitentiary and juvenile centers. And programs for people with special needs. In recent years, he has collaborated with the company Flamenco Vivo de NYC, in flamenco outreach programs by numerous educational centers, libraries, centers for the elderly and institutions managed by the City of New York and State of New York.
Luis Ossa, born in Medellín, Colombia, where he studied music theory and music management. He has more than 15 years of experience as a percussionist. He got introduced to flamenco on 2005 as an accompanist of flamenco dance and song thanks to such master as Israel Heredia, Israel Suarez “Piraña” and Ramón Porrina.
