Organizer Brooklyn Raga Massive Board of Directors Praveen Ramamurthy Artistic Director Neel Murgai Instructor Samarth Nagarkar In this online class, over five sessions, we will explore the fundamental forms and structures of Indian classical vocal music and go on to de-construct distinctive styles and disciplines that have evolved over the past two hundred years. Musicians and non-musicians alike are welcome to join. Class 4: Structures and stylistic disciplines of the Jaipur Gharana As a traditional art form, Indian Classical Music has evolved for centuries to get to its current form. In such a journey, there are naturally aspects and layers that one must unravel to fully understand the depth and richness of the music. While it is sufficient to have an open mind and a willingness to respond emotionally in order to enjoy music, a nuanced understanding of the inner workings of music, greatly enhances the appreciation and enjoyment.
