Suromurchhana's  2022 Online Annual Music Festival honors our Gurus Late Pt. A Kanan and Late Vidushi Malabika Kanan. It is also 101st birthday celebration of Late Pt. A Kanan.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS:
Creator of the MOHAN VEENA and the winner of the GRAMMY AWARD, Padmabhushan Pt. Vishwa Mohan Bhatt has mesmerized the world with his pristine pure, delicate yet fiery music. He created Mohan Veena and established it at the topmost level in the mainstream of Indian Classical Music scenario. One of the foremost disciples of Pt. Ravi Shankar, Pt. Vishwa Mohan Bhatt attracted international attention with blinding speed and faultless legato.
 
Outstanding features of Pt. Vishwa Mohan Bhatt's style are his natural ability to play the 'Tantrakari Ang' and incorporate the 'Gayaki Ang' on Mohan Veena which is the greatest advantage of this instrument over traditional Indian instrument like sitar, sarod and veena. In 1994 he won the highest music award of the world, the GRAMMY AWARD along with Ry Cooder for their World Music Album, 'A MEETING BY THE RIVER' enhancing his celebrity status not only as a star performer but also as an improviser and a soulful composer.
 
Maestro Bickram Ghosh is one of India’s greatest classical tabla players. His musical journey began under the guidance of his father Pt Shankar Ghosh. Maestro Bickram Ghosh is revered globally for his dexterity on the tabla and also for being one of the pioneers of experimental fusion music. He received GIMA Awards. He played in collaboration with Pt Ravi Shankar, George Harrison, and Nomad Christmas and directed music in 38 feature films.  He played in 4 Albums that were nominated for Grammy awards.
