The Brooklyn collective Eclectic Charango Beats uses Andean music and cumbia as their main vehicle and infuses them with acid and electric touches, making their sound both retro and futuristic, . With roots in Colombia, Argentina, Mexico, Scotland and Brazil, the project is cosmopolitan at its core. very much like the city that inspired it.
The percussion section is composed of Colombian drums and percussion (“alegre” drum, maracon) with soprano sax, bass, electric guitar and, of course Charangos - the iconic andean string instruments.
