Singer/songwriter/guitarist Ace Case has been a full-time street musician, two-bit nursing home singer, Jersey rocker, and chronic entertainer. His music has been called “alt-rock with a twang” or “Americana with an edge.” Ace’s sound has been compared to John Hiatt, Dave Alvin, and the Replacements.
After being sidelined for a spell by the pandemic and some hand injuries, Ace is once again active as a solo performer and sometime member of The Esopus Quartet. He has been active in the theatre in 2024, claiming a principal role in “The Wizard of Oz” and playing guitar in the band for “Always…Patsy Cline.” Both are productions of the Phoenicia Playhouse.
From 2010 to 2018, Ace was co-leader of Jersey City-based Americana band The Gully Hubbards. The group released several singles plus the EP “Day Dawns Clear” in 2015, supporting the recordings with several successful mini-tours. “Day Dawns Clear” can be found on Youtube, Spotify, Pandora, Soundcloud, and other music platforms.
In 2005, Ace recorded and released a solo CD, “Beerland”. Listen on Spotify and Pandora.
During the 1980s and 1990s, Ace led and fronted NYC-based bands Dave and the Rave, Video Dave and the Beeftones, and his college band, the immortal 151. “151 rocks, but don’t tell your mother!” Ah…but they were lusty times!
