Reserve your spot now for this special 3-week oud course with Gabe Lavin, this time for intermediate to advanced oudists.
Class Schedule is three Sundays in a row, 11/24, 12/1, and 12/8. All classes will meet at 1pm at Brooklyn Music School (126 St Felix St, Brooklyn, NY 11217).
Open to advanced-intermediate and advanced or professional oud players, this three-week course will push your oud playing to a new level. The three classes will focus on 1.) risha speed and dexterity, 2.) finger positioning and intonation to expand your use of the oud's fingerboard (especially on higher octaves), and 3.) improving ornamentation techniques such as trills, tremolo, glissandos, and other ways to juice up your playing. During the course we will workshop a technical piece of music written for the oud to work on these three aspects of playing.
Students expected to bring their own oud to class. The course will be taught using Arabic C-C (Do-Do) tuning.
