Swamp in the City Presents: Amis du Teche Thursday, May 29 · Jalopy Theatre Dance Lesson: 7:30pm · Amis Du Teche: 8pm-late Get ready for a high-energy night of Cajun music and dancing!
Swamp in the City is thrilled to welcome Amis du Teche to Brooklyn for a special night of Louisiana roots music straight from the banks of Bayou Teche! Hailing from Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, Amis du Teche means “Friends of the Teche”—a name that perfectly captures the close-knit spirit of this group of young musicians raised on the rich traditions of Cajun music.
Adeline Miller leads the band with fiddle, mandolin, guitar, and vocals. A lifelong performer, Adeline has brought her music across North America—from Nova Scotia’s Festival Acadien de Clare to headlining in front of the historic Church at Grand Pré. She’s a proud graduate of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where she studied both music and French to deepen her connection to Cajun culture.
Joining her is Cathryn Hanks, a talented guitarist and singer whose musical roots run deep. Raised on Cajun jams with her father Ryan Hanks, Cathryn now brings that passion to the stage and to her studies as a music business major. She’s an integral part of the Louisiana music scene, on and off the stage—performing, recording, and working with cultural organizations like KRVS Radio Acadie.
Together, Adeline, Cathryn, and their bandmates embody the next generation of Cajun musicians—honoring tradition while carving new paths.
