Brajeswar Mukherjee
As brilliantly described by Plato, “RHYTHM AND HARMONY FIND THEIR WAY INTO THE INWARD PLACES OF THE SOUL,” Brajeswar Mukherjee is born to live these words of Plato. Acclaimed for his musicality and versatility across the globe, Shree Mukherjee sings pure classical music like Khayaal, Thumri, and Dadra, and genres that span from Light Music, Ghazal Geet, Bhajans, and Bengali and Hindi songs. His performances have transcendent at the world’s renowned concerts like Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Mahotsav, Swar Mangesh, ITC Sangeet Sammelan, State Music Academy Conference, Shankar Darbar, National Center for Performing Arts (NCPA), Sangeet Mahabharati, North American Bengali Conference, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, and Indian Music Society of Houston.

Mukherjee’s journey began before he could admire this world as he comes from a deeply rooted musical family. His first influencers have been his parents, Shree Bankim Mukherjee and Shrimati Shankari Mukherjee, who inspired and elevated his musical journey. Shree Asit Roy introduced Shree Mukherjee to the beautiful world of classical music. He was then blessed to be a Shishya of Padmabhusan Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty at a young age where he was trained in a true Guru Shishya Parampara by staying as a disciple at Panditji’s home. The love, blessings, and rigorous training provided by his Guru have made him a splendid performer. His Guru has been his guide, pathfinder, and a philosopher, who gave essential lessons of life along with the music. Mukherjee has a master’s degree in music from the University of Calcutta. Later he joined ITC Sangeet Research Academy as a scholar, where his musical endeavors got a new vision.

Brajeswar began his career early in his teens by giving a stunning performance where he was honored to be blessed by Maestros like Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty, Pandit Tejendra Narayan Majumdar, Pandit Vijay Kichlu, Pandit Samar Saha, Pandit Shubhakar Benerjee, and Pandit Kushal Das to name a few. He continued the glory by giving solo performances and performing with legends like his Guru Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty, Ustad Zakir Hussain, and Carnatic Vocalist Dr. M. BalmurliKrishna. Shree Mukherjee continually presents on All India Radio, Doordarshan, and various channels on Television. He is an impaneled artist of Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR). Shree Mukherjee is grateful to have received awards from the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar from the Sangeet Natak Academy, the Gaanvardhan Puraskar from Pune, and the Shrutinandan Puraskar and federal scholarship assistance from the Government of India.

Mukherjee staunchly believes that greatness is in giving back. He prefers to keep the kindling light of self-learning through mentoring, as what he gives back will remain forever with him. He has been able to touch the lives of many by sharing his knowledge of wealth. Shree Mukherjee serves as a Junior Guru at ITC Sangeet Research Academy and Shrutinanadan. Both these institutions are highly reputable and considered as the temple of music in India.

It is inevitable to say that finding the true meaning of existence may remain unanswered; However, according to Shree Mukherjee, Indian Classical Music has the power to answer the questions of nature, where one is sure to find the purpose of self-existence. It is through the mentorship of his Guru, dedication, hard work, vision, and love for music, Shree Mukherjee has been able to look within himself. He aspires to make most people experience the beauty of Indian Classical Music. He is continually striving to promote beautiful borderless music by traveling the world to reach the hearts of many.
