Artist Ehren Hanson Collaborator Sameer Gupta $10 Advance | $15 Door | 8pm Doors Open | 8:30pm Music | 10pm BRM Weekly Raga Jam Ehren and Sameer are two disciples of the same guru, which means the repertoire and core musical education they share is what drives their dynamic duo improvisations, and gives a unique life to their rhythmic dialogue. The energy they create is a reflection of a shared, yet individual experience of Indian Classical music and particularly the illustrious Farukhabad Gharana of tabla playing. Their music reflects the beauty of brotherhood and coming together to share a journey with two distinct voices providing a collaborative vision in the musical language of tabla. Ehren Hanson - Tabla Sameer Gupta - Tabla Rohan Misra - Sarangi Ehren Hanson began learning tabla at age 15 and went on to teach rhythm as an assistant professor at Bard College in 2002, and in 2005 he received the Senior Performing Arts Fellowship from the American Institute of Indian Studies. He has accompanied great musicians including Pandit Debi Prasad Chatterjee, Pandit Subrata Roy Chaudhuri, and Steve Gorn. Sameer Gupta is known as one of the few percussionists simultaneously representing the traditions of American drumset, and Indian classical tabla. He has held workshops on Indian music and cross-over drumming styles, combining traditional and modern improvisational styles drawing from his Indian heritage and American roots. From bebop to avant-garde jazz, and European classical percussion to North Indian classical tabla, Gupta continues to compose and perform music from a true multi-cultural perspective that now bridges several continents. **Special announcement for Musicians!** BRM cordially invites you to join us in the ongoing effort to cultivate a home for intercultural musical dialogue. We are happy to offer FREE ENTRY TO MUSICIANS AFTER 10 PM WHO COME WITH THEIR INSTRUMENTS AND ARE READY TO PLAY! Please come out and engage with one of NYC's most vibrant and diverse communities of improvising musicians hailing from all over the music world!
