Brooklyn Baithak began as an intimate gathering in a living room, a welcoming space where raga-based musicians and dancers came together to share their passion. The word baithak refers to a traditional South Asian gathering where artists perform in a close, informal setting, fostering a deep connection between performer and audience. From the beginning, our goal has been to create an environment that invites deep listening and genuine appreciation of the art form.
We’ve come a long way since our last showcase in October 2024. In the months since, we’ve hosted a series of sold-out events, welcoming new faces and growing our community in exciting ways. Now, we’re thrilled to return to the Jalopy Theatre for our second annual showcase!
This showcase is more than just a performance, it’s a celebration of how far we’ve all come, as performers and as a Baithak. We’re honoring the collaborations that have flourished, the new artists who’ve joined our circle, and the ongoing energy that fuels Brooklyn Baithak. This year, we’re proud to feature six incredible groups of artists, each bringing their unique voice, musical composition, and creativity to the stage.
At the heart of Brooklyn Baithak is the belief that music connects us all. It transcends boundaries and brings together people from diverse backgrounds to share in the joy of artistic expression.
This year, we’re expanding beyond the stage. In the spirit of a mela, we’re welcoming local vendors with food, crafts, and art to create a vibrant, festive atmosphere. Come celebrate music, community, and connection with us!
