Introducing the ghar.ana sessions by Brooklyn Baithak
Where music tells the story, and the story deepens the music
The ghar.ana sessions is a new concept, an intimate live performance and storytelling series where artists share not just their music, but the cultural roots, personal journeys, and creative processes behind their practice.
The name ghar.ana holds layered meaning:
- On one hand, “gharana” speaks to the rich lineage of classical music, schools of thought and style passed down through generations
- On the other, “ghar” + “ana” literally “to come home” in Hindi and Urdu, evokes a personal return: to one’s roots, voice, and creative truth
At its core, the ghar.ana sessions is just that:
A space where 3 artists come home to the stories, sounds, and cultural threads that shaped them, inviting you, the audience, to experience the intimacy and depth of that return.

We’re excited to host ghar.ana sessions outside in a beautiful haveli-style setting at Tera Mera, a vibrant new restaurant in Brooklyn! They’re creating a special menu for the event, featuring delicious food, soothing tea and chai, plus beer and wine.
