Led by Nikolay Kolev and Donka Koleva BULGARIKA is a trans-Atlantic Bulgarian band playing the Thracian style of the legendary “Trakiiska Troika” from the 1960s and 1970s.
Donka Koleva is a native of the town of Rudozem Rodopa region of Thrace. After graduation of National School of Folk Arts in Shiroka Luka Bulgaria, Donka Koleva performed as a soloist on Bulgarian national Radio and TV.
Since immigrating to the US, she has thaught and performed widely across USA.
Nikolay Kolev - a native of Thracian Rose Valley village of Karavelovo rich in gadulka traditions. Nikolay graduated from the National School of Arts in Shiroka Luka Bulgaria. Recognized as a world class master of his Art he has performed and taught gadulka in the US for over 20 years.
Temelko Ivanov - Master kaval player who has graduated the National School of Arts " Fhilip Kutev in town of Kotel and the Academy of music in the town of Plovdiv. He is a soloist in the National Folk Ansemble "Thakia" and Bulgarian Radio and TV.
Nikolay Kodzabashev - is recognized one of the best tambura players for his generation in Bulgaria. Currently Nikolay perform as a soloist in the Sliven Folk Ansemble.
Marin Chalumov - native of the town of Karlovo and began playing tupan professionally at the age of 15. Currently he is performing with "Rosova Dolina" wedding band. Marin is known as a master tupan maker in Bulgaria.
