Invisible Hand Press and fatalfieldgoal are proud to present the release of a new book featuring risograph prints of matchbooks selected from the Larry Blagg Gay Matchbook Collection in the Cornell Rare Books and Manuscripts Archive. The book, entitled American Ace; Limited Edition, was created by Craig Smith and Ben Wise and printed in upstate New York.
For this book release event, Craig Smith will be on-hand to sign books and perform a live set of original music from his recent LP entitled "Emerald Cut" (Legacy 405 Records). The set will include visualizations created by the artist Marina Sachs and will strike forth with the swinging sexuality of Patti Smith performing Easter. Opening the evening's musical events will be Boston-based multimedia artist Mo Pepin (
https://www.mopepin.com/).
Craig Smith is a visual/performance artist and theorist whose sound/image compositions have been featured in festivals, screening rooms, and gymnasiums. Smith has been featured at the Tate Modern (London), PS1MOMA (NewYork), Cantor Film Center (New York), and Central Academy of Fine Art (CAFA) in Beijing, China. A monograph, "coffee-table" style book of the matchbook collection will be released later this summer. Smith's forthcoming book Relational Art: A Guided Tour will be released by Bloomsbury London in November of 2024.
