MAMADY & MAMADY - A special Thanksgiving performance

Guitarists Mamady Kouyate et Mamady Kouruma, both from Guinea, have been playing together for decades. They both got their starts playing from village to village, picking up gigs along the way. They both ended up joining some of the early National Orchestras such as le 22 Novembre Band, L'Orchestre Federal Kouroussa and finally, in the case of Kouyate, the Bembeya jazz - Gunea's most prestigious musical export.
Mamady Kouyate ended up moving to New York, soon followed by Kourouma. The two have been playing in Kouyate's New York band, The Mandingo Ambassadors. Their duo shows take us back to their early years.
Their Thanksgiving duo have become a tradition dating back more than ten years. It is a wonderful way to experience the music in totally intimate setting, with a focus on the guitar interplay the two Mamady have worked out over the decades.
