NEW YORK MUSIC MONTH TALKS: New York’s recording studios are essential to the city’s music ecosystem, yet they face mounting challenges in 2025—from rising operational costs to technological shifts and gaps in government support.
This panel, hosted as part of NY Music Month and initiative of the NYC Mayor’s Office of Media + Entertainment, brings together studio owners, engineers, and industry leaders for a candid conversation about the current state of NYC’s recording studio landscape.
We’ll explore:
- The real-world wins and challenges of running a studio in NYC today
- Ongoing efforts to better understand the industry through the newly launched NYC Recording Studio Census
- The vision for building a unified association of recording studios
- How we can collectively advocate for recognition, resources, and policy support
The conversation will set the stage for greater collaboration and visibility for NYC’s recording studios. The panel will be followed by a networking mixer where studio professionals can connect, share experiences, and build momentum for what's ahead.
