Saxophonist, Anant Pradhan, recalls sounds of 1960/70’s Jamaica. Reviving & pushing forward the traditions of early innovators like Cedric Brooks and Roland Alphonso. Anant continues their legacy alongside a living legend & one of the fathers of this music, Larry McDonald (whose impressive career spans over 60 years working alongside foundation artists including Carlos Malcolm, Lennie Hibbert, The Skatalites, Count Ossie, Scratch Perry, Bob Marley, Toots & the Maytals, Taj Mahal, and Gil Scott-Heron).
A powerful eight piece band driven by saxophone and percussion — they pay homage to Jamaica’s great lineage of musicians & keep the spirit alive here in Brooklyn.
Larry McDonald, calls Anant “the steward of our music going forward.”
Newest member of the legendary Skatalites — his debut record will be released this summer on NYC based label,Names You Can Trust.
