Join us on Sunday, June 29th for a night of ethereal & otherworldly music from Phantom Limb, Medukha, and Upholstery! Bringing a combination of rock, folk, psychedelic and surrealistic sounds, each band is a definite sight to see.

@phantomlimbny is an improvisational psychedelic collective that incorporates elements of post-rock, drone, noise, dub and jazz into an ever-evolving sound. Think Swans meets the Grateful Dead… Each set is unique though the consistent world built by each musician, who all come from different musical backgrounds, emerges from a similar place that is all their own.

The recipe for @medukha.mp3 involves fermenting the antics of a rock band in a pitcher of third culture confusion. Add Polish and Ukrainian folk melodies to taste. They use ethnographic recordings, tokens of our homelands, the languages we've grown up with, and the folk music conventions we've been exposed to as an emotive vehicle for interrogating the immigrant experience: a wedding song from Southeastern Poland with patriarchal undertones becomes a curbside conversation with a bird, a Ukrainian spring song is fractured into an unrecognizable ambient soundscape, a song with disputed origins becomes fertile ground for a new language.

@upholsteredmusic creates dark music for curious minds. The art rock troupe draws on a wide range of musical influences - Portishead to Talking Heads, cabaret to post-punk - while striving to create music that is visceral and thought-provoking.
