Suromurchhana celebrates Birth Centenary of Late Pt. A. Kanan with Shri Sandip Chatterjee on santoor and Shri Subhajyoti Guha on tabla. Sandip Chatterjee (Santoor) Shri. Sandip Chatterjee, a disciple of Pt. Tarun Bhattacharya and vocal maestro Pt. Ajoy Chakraborty, is an accomplished Santoor player of our time who has been heralded as a torchbearer of two gharanas at the same time – Maihar and Patiyala. With his magical strokes over strings, He makes his unique melody speak. Like embroidering the silk with stitches, Sandip’s music has also thickly embroidered innumerable ears by reaching out to a greater world. Subhajyoti Guha (Tabla) Shri Subhajyoti Guha, a highly talented tabla player, and is one of the NEW GENRE of tabla exponents who are taking this world of North Indian percussion instrument to greater heights in the 21st century. Subhajyoti was introduced to tabla at an early age by his father Dr. Smriti Ranjan Guha, and a few years later tabla maestro Pt. Sankha Chatterjee, a disciple of late Ustad Keramatullah Khan and late Ustad Allarakha Khan of Punjab Gharana, took Subhajyoti under his tutorship.
