The collective digs deep into the a trove of Afro-indigenous Colombian gaitas and tamboras music - uncovering and sharing some of the best roots music from Colombia's Caribbean coast. The collective was formed in 2022 by members of the Colombian diaspora to study, commemorate and celebrate the legacy of the pioneers of the Indigenous chuana flute and the African drums. Far from their ancestral lands, Púyaloahí formed on the stolen land of the Lenape-Canarsie and aims to build community through music by and for the people.
