Attendees will discover where urban society and the environment intersect – On September 24, 2025 at 7:30pm, the Avant Garde Theaterlab in Midtown will host Submergency, an immersive night of film, photography, and interactive exhibits exploring the urgent themes of climate change, art, and activism in New York City and beyond.
This one-night-only event invites guests to engage with the climate crisis through a uniquely creative lens. Attendees will enjoy a curated selection of wines, local beers, and filtered Water, followed by three short film screenings that showcase stories at the intersection of climate justice, urban life, and artistic expression.
In addition to the films, the evening will feature a photography exhibition capturing striking images of drought, visual art with playful figures from Norman Rockwell’s artworks that are placed in an environment ravaged by climate hazard, stand-up comedy for the planet, and an interactive climate art installation designed to engage and challenge perceptions of environmental impact.
“This event is about more than just awareness—it’s about connecting people emotionally and artistically to the climate crisis,” said Molly Stark-Ragsdale, filmmaker. “We want people to leave inspired, informed, and activated.”
