Leela New York is delighted to present: Ghungroo Ceremony & Baithak,  a celebration of Kathak’s rich heritage through community, tradition, and artistry.

The Ghungroo Ceremony marks a sacred milestone in the study of Kathak — where a student receives their ghungroo (ankle bells) from their teacher. It honors the passing of knowledge and the continuation of our artistic lineage and community.

Followed by our Baithak, an intimate student showcase where the magic of Kathak unfolds through expressive storytelling, intricate footwork, rhythmic patterns, graceful chakkars (spins), and live music.
