Laetitia Sonami makes a rare East Coast appearance for two evenings only, curated by longtime radio presenter and musician ida belisle. A performer, composer, and pioneering electronic instrument builder, Sonami's practice spans five decades of live electronics and gesture-based performance.

Night One features performances of What Happened III–Now, a work for voice and live electronics performed with the lady's ball, a gestural instrument that is the successor to Sonami's legendary lady's glove, and A Song for Two Mothers, developed for her primary instrument, the Spring Spyre. Interdisciplinary artist Chloe Alexandra Thompson performs between sets.

Laetitia Sonami has expanded the boundaries of sound and technology across several decades of visionary practice. Since the late 1980s she has pioneered gesture-based performance, real-time sound synthesis, and embodied interfaces, establishing herself as a central figure in sensor-driven musical performance and experimental electronic composition.

Sonami has created several unique instruments for live performance: the lady's glove, devised in 1991 and her primary instrument for 25 years; the Spring Spyre, which applies machine learning to real-time audio synthesis; and the lady's ball, the most minimal instrument she can imagine. Her work explores the fragile terrain where body, memory, language, and machine intersect, eschewing dominant paradigms of control in favor of embodied knowledge, contingency, and unpredictability.

In 2025 Sonami received the Giga-Herz Lifetime Achievement Award. Black Truffle recently released an LP of two recent works and Lovely Music a double CD of earlier works.

Chloe Alexandra Thompson is a Cree interdisciplinary artist, director and composer. Her practice explores listening as a way of knowing and relating which is shaped by Indigenous resonance, spatial perception, and embodied vulnerability. Working with psychoacoustic tones, algorithmic systems, and sculptural spatialization as materials, she composes spaces that shift awareness, inviting deep relational encounters between bodies, technologies, and land.

Thompson’s work has been presented by CTM Berlin, MUTEK (Tokyo & Montreal), Onassis Foundation (Greece & USA), ImagineNative, Pioneer Works, PICA, Performance Space New York, among others. A current Onassis ONX Studio member, she has participated in residencies at Pioneer Works, Yucca Valley Material Labs, Alfred IEA, MIT OpenDoc Lab with the Indigenous Screen Office of Canada, and HERVISIONS x Arebyte (UK).
