Lyd Marie's Vinyl Release Show

with Avangelia

Thursday, July 9th
7-10 pm
Friends & Lovers
Brooklyn, NY

When was the last time you listened to an album start to finish? For Brooklyn-based, Austin-bred songwriter and producer Lyd Marie, that rare and immersive experience is at the heart of her new record, 4U—a collection of songs that balance raw emotion with meticulous craft tracing the journey from heartbreak to break through.

On Thursday, July 9th Lyd Marie celebrates the vinyl release of her new album "4U" with a rocking live full band show at Friends & Lovers from 7-10pm

Get there early for an opening set by Avangelia, songwriter & producer fusing RnB, Jazz, Folk, Rock and Blues to create her definition of Neo Soul; “a combination of everything that gives you a visceral feeling, no matter the roots.”

4U is an ambitious, genre-blending collection of beautifully honest songs crafted and captured in the midst of a life changing breakup and move from Texas to New York. Her sound nods to influences like Alanis Morissette and Lianne La Havas, weaving together heartbreaking Americana ballads, infectious grooves and angsty ’90s pop-rock anthems. Digitally released in October 2025, Lyd spent the last six months on a true indie uphill battle to bring "4U" into the physical realm. She is presenting the work for the first time live in New York City.

Originally recorded in Los Angeles in early 2024, the album came to life over the following year in New York and Nashville with co-producers Chris Weingarten and Kai Welch. Lyd used the process as her compass through upheaval and transformation. “4U has been a long process of facing myself, flaws and all” she shares. “Each song was recorded in one take and then molded over months to capture both the vulnerability of a live performance and the sonic depth of a meticulously produced studio record.”

But for Lyd, 4U is about more than personal catharsis. It marks a major milestone in her journey as a producer and her larger mission to create space for women and gender-expansive voices in music production. Lyd founded Tone Shift Collective in 2024 to host monthly listening parties for women and gender expansive producers in New York. Through curated female fronted shows and her regular Heartbreak Open Mic at Pete’s Candy Store she continues to build community around vulnerability, creativity, and connection.
