Join the Bard Baroque Ensemble, under the direction of Renée Anne Louprette, for an unforgettable evening of music exploring themes of folly from the Renaissance, Baroque, and 21st century. The program features John Eccles’ The Mad Lover, Antonio Vivaldi’s La Follia (arranged for string orchestra and continuo by Jeannette Sorrell), and excerpts from Johann Sebastian Bach’s Peasant Cantata. Harpsichordist Sophia Cornicello will present the U.S. premiere of la folia by Estonian composer Tõnu Kõrvits. Additional works by Juan del Encina, Alonso Mudarra, Diego Ortiz, Johann Christian Schickhardt, and Andrea Falconieri will be performed. The concert will feature Baroque dancer Caroline Copeland.
