A concert and talk geared to be enjoyed by music enthusiasts, beginner musicians and professionals alike. Let's gather around a shared love of music and connect through learning about the diasporic influence of “clave” from west Africa throughout the Americas.

Los Transplantes: An electrifying mix of salsa, Cuban timba, Afro Colombian folklore, hard hitting hip hop, erudite jazz, and booty shaking dance music, Los Transplantes is an explosive New York City trio here to present a bold new soundtrack for the real all American diaspora.

Musicians Puli, Alex, and Brahm channel their extensive and diverse musical backgrounds into a fiercely unified, genre-bending sound. Their message seeks to break down cultural division and deliver an undeniable celebration of unity, hope, and resilience. The powerhouse band ignites every stage they hit, with an infectious energy that instantly draws crowds to the dance floor, propelling ancient tradition into a modern and accessible experience for all to be a part of.

From an anthropological perspective, following the transatlantic slave trade and its unprecedented combination of indigenous cultures, learn how Los Transplantes think about traditional similarities and our global connection to rhythm. We’re all much more similar than we tend to think. What does Guinean music have to do with John Coltrane? Everything! Haitian Konpa, Cuban Timba, and Colombian Cumbia?
