Led by guitarist Solo De Kanto, originally from Bandundu Province in the Democratic Republic of Congo; Orchestre Moto is a band based in New York City that celebrates Congolese music - with a strong emphasis on the classic 70's sound of the likes of Franco's TPOK Jazz and Tabu Ley Rochereau.
Orchestre Moto was co-founded by rhythm guitarist Julian Apter soon after he started taking lessons with Solo De Kanto. They met while playing together in Nkumu Katalay's Lifelong Project Band, where Julian played as the rhythm guitarist for five years. The group has played at the Sultan Room in Brooklyn and the Shrine is currently recording their first album.
