Ourida is a Franco-Algerian songwriter, singer and pianist and a Brooklyn resident with a unique sound, presence and sultry voice.
After winning awards and residency grants in France, Ourida performed for years in Parisian clubs, venues, and festivals, and lived in Marseille before being invited to perform in Canada and Brazil. Her debut album ‘Monkeys, came out in 2010.
The tension between her Algerian roots, American modernism and French chanson is all apparent in Ourida’s songwriting – urban songs mixing folk rock, art pop melodies and jazz grooves.
After moving to New York City, Ourida recorded ‘Wings’ (2022) produced by Eli Crews (tUnE-yArDs, Marc Ribot…) an indie pop / art pop / alternative album, a party of sensual songs about multicultural life and women’s freedom of expression. The single ‘Amanti’, a collaboration with Ben Zwerin and Raed el Khazen, was selected as a semi-finalist for Unsigned Only 2021.
