Are you a performer looking to pump(kin) it up this fall? Wanna get in touch with your innate and embodied sense of play in a supportive container?
Take this workshop!! We will play a series of games and exercises aimed at connecting you with your juicy impulses and bringing you into the sweet, sweet present moment onstage. It’s all here baby! Your failures are gold if you accept them. Can we play with the heart of everyone’s favorite frog, and the body of a (friendly!) competitor??! Day 1 is for games and getting juicy in our bodies. Day 2 is for costumes and quick & dirty devising. Open to performers and clowns of all experience levels - the only prerequisite is a desire to play. Costumes and snacks provided–feel free to bring more to add to the pile!

Hannah Mitchell is an award-winning performer with a penchant for clown & bouffon. She devises new experimental works of theater, performs live comedy bits, and regularly collaborates with various ensembles. She is a founding member of the clown company WüfPak and the experimental theater collective, CHILD, whose creative output “so insistently defies human logic” (Helen Shaw, The New Yorker). Hannah has performed at many venues around NYC, including The Public, The Brick, The Park Ave Armory, The Collapsable Hole, Lincoln Center, LifeWorld, The New Ohio, Theater Mitu, HERE Arts, Target Margin, and The Brooklyn Comedy Collective, among others. Her work has been presented at The Philadelphia Fringe Festival, The Exponential Festival, ?!:New Works, and abroad at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival. LOCAL GRANDMA is a free-form theater company that creates and produces live performances, multimedia videos, and other interdisciplinary, genre-fluid projects. LG is based in Lenapehoking/Brooklyn, NY and hosted by German-American artist Leonie Bell. Leonie started LG in 2020 as a support structure to help her produce her own work on a larger scale after showing it in mostly one- or two-night festivals.

LG features a fluid combination of new and returning artists per project. To date, LOCAL GRANDMA has produced six projects: two multi-weekend theater productions and three multi-media films. LG has worked with over 60 local and international artists and shared work with over 1000 virtual and in-person audience members. LG is currently developing a fourth multimedia film for February 2026 and their next multi-weekend production for Fall 2026. In January, they launched their first sliding scale workshop series featuring clowning and financial literacy workshops. www.localgrandma.org
