Eastbound Echo 東行回音 is a jazz-inspired Mandopop ensemble reimagining the sounds of a generation with heart, harmony, and a fresh creative voice. Led by bassist and arranger Julian Wittich 紀安, a Taiwanese-Dutch musician who grew up in Taiwan, the band draws on deep nostalgia and personal connection to the music of artists like Jay Chou 周杰倫, Khalil Fong 方大同, and Faye Wong 王菲.
Julian’s bicultural perspective shapes the group’s sound: a blend of diasporic memory and jazz improvisation, paying tribute to the Mandopop that filled his childhood while exploring new possibilities through reharmonization and reinterpretation.
The band features April Wu 吳思瑤 and Danni Wu 吳丹妮on vocals; Edelyn Huang 黃懷萱 on piano, keyboard, and synths; Nick Biello on saxophone, and Ian Wacksman on drums. Together, they bring a cross-cultural spirit to the stage — merging East and West, tradition and reinvention, memory and momentum.
From lush arrangements to groove-driven transformations, Eastbound Echo offers a sound that resonates with Mandopop fans and new listeners alike — a warm echo of the past, moving ever forward.
