Part poetry workshop, part ritual, the Kaleidoscope Assembly is a surrealist exploration of the manipulation of the raw material of reality through queer art.
Join us in practicing the cut-up technique, which has been a poetic weapon against spiritual control for the last century and a half, wielded by surrealists and other magicians. This form and practice takes the texts (by literally cutting them up) that seek to do us violence, remaking them in expressions of our own rage and joy. It’s time to turn it against the gender-repressive christofascist administration that seeks to crush us and that will, as its every predecessor has done before it, fail. We reassemble the language, invite the magickal short-circuits, break down society, resist and damage guilt, fear, and control, play with art, poetry, music, dance, sex, pain, fear, body, god – to help free us.
Bring a text you’d like to cut up/repurpose or use one of our offerings, we’ll have plenty. Let’s play some new games.
