Join us on Sunday, July 13th for a special show from The Truetone Honeys, joining us all the way from Virginia! They’re swinging by Unicorn this summer to play your favorite jazz classics in a way no one else does – you don’t wanna miss this!
@truetonehoneys are a three-woman jazz band from the Tidewater area of Virginia. Comprised of Anna Perkins, Caroline Scruggs, and Jeanette Corey, they specialize in transcribing and performing early swing songs of the 1920s and 30s, with an emphasis on tight harmonies and weird arrangements, accompanying themselves on piano and banjolele (with a little bit of washboard when the mood strikes) Their renditions get young people dancing and mature folks wiping away nostalgic tears.
They’ve brought their talents to the Virginia Symphony Orchestra, the Hermitage Museum of Norfolk, The Historic Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation, the Williamsburg Winter Blues Jazz Festival, the Branch Museum of Design, the Maymont Estate, the City of Portsmouth, the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, An Die Musik listening room (Baltimore), and many other reputable organizations and venues. Now they’re getting ready to bring it over to Kingston!
7PM Doors/ 7:30PM Show, TWO SETS! $15 ADV/ $20 Door. We’ll see y’all there!
