Amidst the magic of Tucson’s world-renowned Gem and Mineral Show, Solar Culture hosted a rare and intimate sonic journey with legendary space ambient composer Michael Stearns.
Solar Culture transformed into a cosmic vessel for sonic alchemy, with Michael at the helm, guiding the audience on an interstellar journey of sound: Crossing Thresholds from the Earth to the Infinite.
Renowned for his groundbreaking ability to weave soundscapes that evoke the vastness of the cosmos, Michael Stearns led the audience on a profound voyage beyond space and time — a celestial meditation that resonated deep within and reached far beyond. Michael opened the evening with a full moon ceremony recording, featuring a choir and soft percussion. As the tension built during the ceremony, a shaman at Chichen Itza began chanting with the percussion steadily intensifying. Michael then performed “subharmonics” using Wilsonic, followed by guitar work on the piece “Propelled,” building momentum as the journey unfolded. He later softened the mood with a solo guitar passage, offering a moment of reflection and calm. The evening culminated in a live performance of “Village Life,” from his acclaimed film score for Samsara leaving the audience in a state of awe and deep resonance.
