Balkan Roma Songs Workshop with Eva Salina

Eva Salina has been studying, performing Balkan vocal traditions for over 25 years, teaching them for 20 years, and is passionate about sharing the songs and traditions she loves.  As founder and director of The Jalopy Chorus, Eva has been leading folks in song at Jalopy since 2015.  In this workshop, she will share a song chosen from her collection of Balkan Romani songs, exploring not only the technical elements of language, vocal production, and ornamentation, but also the historical and social context surrounding the musical tradition.  Look here for more about Eva’s teaching and performing.
