The group is fronted by singer-songwriter Corey Laitman, a former member of the NYC antifolk scene and Signature Sounds record label, whose ethereal poeticisms are delivered in a spellbinding voice that tips its cap to Sufjan Stevens and Joni Mitchell in equal measure. Laitman is joined by guitarist and ambient sound sculptor Sam Perry (SVIP), bassist and backing vocalist (and killer-solo artist in her own right) Ciarra Fragale, and drummer, producer, and sound mangler Nate Mondschein (who often works under the moniker of Best Mann)
Hen in the Foxhouse is the lo-fi indie project of Honduran American singer/songwriter, Elena Sophia Krell. Born in Germany and growing up all over Europe and Latin America, Elena trained as an opera singer at Oberlin Conservatory and sang professionally for five years before earning a PhD and teaching critical gender/race/sexuality studies at Vassar College for ten years. Her classical and academic trainings form the bedrock for original music that is intuitive, dreamy, and whimsical. Based in the Hudson Valley, NY, she is joined by Chris Gartmann (Three) on drums and Jacob Miller (Esmé Pattersen, Nathaniel Ratecliff) on bass. More at www.heninthefoxhouse.com.
