"Dimension Zero” Sneak Preview: First Read-Through & Sing-Through

Come join the Boxcutter Collective for their first public read through & sing through of their upcoming anti-capitalist sci-fi puppet filled musical spectacle! This show will premiere in the fall of 2025, but you can help Boxcutter Collective by being the audience for a special preview of the text and music as they evolve this show into the grand spectacle it will become.

Dimension Zero Description: Drawing inspiration from iconic works of science fiction like Metropolis and Flash Gordon, and classic off-beat musicals like Little Shop of Horrors, and Rocky Horror Picture Show, Dimension Zero features a live rock band that will guide the audience on an epic adventure that spans the vastness of New York City and the human experience. It is a grand love letter to our city, an ode to classic sci-fi, rock-n-roll, and a tribute to badass space-adventuring women battling against the madness of unbridled capitalism and giant space monsters everywhere.

Company Bio: Boxcutter Collective is a New York City based political puppet troupe made up of seven core members. The founding members met while working at the Bread and Puppet Theater. Their work addresses current political movements drawing inspiration from anti-fracking activists, efforts to unionize workers, anti-war demonstrations, decolonization thinkers, abolitionist strategists, and others. They have toured internationally and performed at venues across New York City including La Mama Experimental Theater Club, Coney Island USA, Amant Arts, El Clemente Cultural Center and at the Jalopy Theatre. In 2021 they were awarded a micro commission by Handmade Puppet Dreams for a new short puppet film called Judy: Union Maid. In 2022, they received a Jim Henson Foundation Grant for a musical for all ages called Happyland! Now!! In 2023 they were given a Sustaining Grant for Political Artists by the Puerto-Rico based non-profit, AgitArte and also an artist grant from the Rotunda in Philadelphia, PA. In 2024, they received a New York State Council for the Arts Grant to support the development of their new live sci-fi puppet musical, Dimension Zero, which will premiere in full in 2025.
