Pieces

Pieces
Wingéd Monkeys is an open communal collaboration here in Hudson started by Shae D’lyn (director of Sean Allison’s If It Bleeds It Leads at The Park last month) and Ellen Boyce with the spontaneous readings of great works events back on February 25th. We had an epic experience reading the play Ondine with 27 of the 40 audience members reading cold in a triumphant celebration of the magic of flying by the seat of your pants. We will do the next spontaneous reading of The Comedy of Errors cast by John McManus in June.

This current collaboration, Pieces, is of playwrights bringing new short works to the stage with minimal sets, costumes, effects, and fewer actors. The bare-bones aspects allow for the same intimacy and camaraderie but with rehearsed works. The five ten-minute plays by Adam Tomei, Derek Murphy, Geoffrey Nauffts, Joseph Walsh, and Shae D’lyn will be interlaced with live music by Hudson’s favorite folk artist Phil Roebuck.

These events endeavor to offer less production-heavy theater that can bring independent artists and theater lovers together more often in this cozy beautiful space. We strive for theater that is accessible on every level to everybody.
