Join Sleepover Trading Co. and the Avalon Lounge for a screening of a one-of-a-kind "rock & roll fable" - the 1984 cult action-musical Streets of Fire! When rock singer Ellen Aim (Diane Lane) is kidnapped by Raven (Willem Dafoe) and his biker gang, it's up to her mysterious ex Tom Cody (Michael Pare) with some help from a sarcastic soldier (Amy Madigan) and her smarmy boyfriend/manager (Rick Moranis) to save her.
Featuring a look that's part 50s greasers, part 80s neon with sprinkles of Blade Runner futurism for good measure, director Walter Hill (The Warriors, 48 Hours) mixes sledgehammer fights with musical numbers including original songs by Jim Steinman (Bat Out of Hell), Stevie Nicks, Tom Petty, Ry Cooder, Dan Hartman and an onscreen performance by roots rockers The Blasters!
This screening will kick off with an exclusive pre-film clip show. The pre-show begins at 7:30pm with the film at 8pm at the Avalon Lounge (29 Church Street, Catskill, NY).
