Get ready for a soulful, joyful afternoon with these two Bay Area bands Bitchcraft and John Gravois and the Better Knowns (Mark Schatz and Jesse Fichman). The bands will be performing and debuting some originals as well as standards from bluegrass, old-time, folk, and swing genres.

Bitchcraft
Once upon a time, at the end of a local women's bluegrass jam, some pickers hung around and had way too much fun playing and singing together to not form a band, and Bitchcraft was born.

At a Bitchcraft show, you'll be met with a group of experienced bluegrass and roots musicians bringing you the music that makes their hearts sing, from traditional bluegrass standards, driving old time tunes, to beautifully crafted originals that leave the room feeling different. The quartet features fiddle, guitar, banjo, bass, and stellar harmonies.

Bitchcraft believes in music that supports community. For this reason, we donate a portion of money from every show to charity. Music touches hearts - it brings a community together with all the good feelings - so why not a little change in action too? John Gravois and the Better Knowns (Mark Schatz and Jesse Fichman)
John Gravois is a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist preparing to release his first album of original material—a collection of songs about love, goodbyes, and time warps. Expect styles that shift from trad country to bluegrass to swing to indie, folk, and even bossa nova. John is also a journalist and editor at WIRED, and has contributed to This American Life.

Mark Schatz is a true renaissance man of the acoustic music world. A two-time winner of the IBMA Bass Player of the Year Award, he is best known for his contributions on some of the most iconic recordings in bluegrass by artists such as Tony Rice, Bela Fleck, John Hartford, Claire Lynch, Tim O’Brien, Sara Jarosz, and Nickel Creek.

Jesse Fichman grew up in the Bay Area's bluegrass community and is best known for his work as a guitarist, mandolinist, banjoist and vocalist with AJ Lee & Blue Summit. He has taught at the California Bluegrass Association's Kids on Bluegrass Music Camp and led workshops at Walker Creek Music Camp.
