TUESDAY NIGHT COMMUNITY SING with Ali Dineen
Fall 2026 Season for 10 weeks

Tuesdays 6:30 - 8 pm:

October 6, 13, 20, 27
November 3, 10, 17
December 1, 8, 15

Come join Jalopy's Tuesday Night Community Sing, where we will gather together each week to sing from a wide repertoire in a casual, supportive, fun and community-oriented setting! Led by musician and teacher Ali Dineen, this weekly gathering will be a place to meet other singers, experiment and grow as a vocalist and musician, and continue to build this musical community that we've been growing for the past four years.

Over the course of a season, we typically learn 8 - 10 songs of varying complexity, as well as a number of simpler songs and rounds, with harmony being the focus and common thread throughout all the music. Ali uses a variety of teaching methods, from sheet music to interval scores to ear training; sight-reading will be helpful but is certainly not required.

As for repertoire, we'll cover everything from American pop songs (the Beach Boys, the Roches) to country (Dolly Parton & the Trio Album) to Nueva Canción (Violeta Parra) to traditional music (sea shanties, Georgian healing songs, American folk music, Greek folk songs) and lots of other beloved music, as well as songs that people in the group are excited to sing. There will be opportunities for solos, as well as opportunities to build smaller ensembles within the larger group, and occasional performances in low-key settings, most likely on the stage of the Jalopy Theatre.

There is always a virtual option for our rehearsals if you are ever unable to make it in person; singers are encouraged to attend a minimum of 75% of class sessions for continuity's sake.

We are offering a sliding scale payment option for this class. Below you can find recommendations for what to pay based on your income level. Please note that these numbers are only suggestions, and you are free to pay what feels manageable and appropriate for you based on all your life's circumstances, not just annual income. As always, financial aid / scholarships are available, just reach out to Ali at ali.dineen@gmail.com or Lynette at lynette@jalopytheatre.org, and if you prefer to pay in two installments, feel free to reach out as well. Finally, if you want to drop in one night to try it out before committing, please email Ali at ali.dineen@gmail.com to check in first.
