This First Touch Workshop is curated for those who are new to handpan and have always wanted to try their hand at playing one. We'll briefly explore the history and overview of the instrument before moving on to the proper way to play a handpan. Highlighting basic first touch, playing rhythms, as well as some handpan-specific techniques that could be applied to your playing. Whether you are a seasoned musician or an absolute beginner, all experience levels are welcome. Handpans will also be available for use during the workshop, and you can also rent or purchase one if interested.

This First Touch Workshop will be led by Anthony Carrera, a Brooklyn-based world music Multi-instrumentalist who plays handpan, sitar, & flamenco guitar. Anthony is an up-and-coming musician who has dedicated his life to learning and performing music from all regions of the world. He has a home studio in Brooklyn, NY, where he teaches music lessons, repairs sitars, and sells world music instruments.
