“With Mino, any music swings” - Miles Davis

One of the world's most celebrated and innovative percussionists, multi-instrumentalist and Grammy Award-winning artist, Mino Cinélu offers a rare opportunity to experience the living legacy of Miles Davis through the artistry of one of his closest collaborators. Having performed and recorded seven albums with Miles Davis, Cinélu brings MINO 4 MILES to the Hudson Jazz Festival—an extraordinary musical experience inspired by the creativity, freedom, and fearless artistic spirit he shared with one of jazz's greatest visionaries.

Over a legendary career spanning more than five decades, Cinélu has collaborated with jazz icons including Weather Report, Herbie Hancock, and Dizzy Gillespie, helping shape some of the most adventurous music of the modern era. For Mino 4 Miles, Cinélu marks the jazz icon’s centennial with a special evening of music inspired by the years spent alongside Miles Davis through original compositions, evocative storytelling, and immersive visuals. Cinélu reflects on the profound influence Miles Davis had on his life while celebrating the boundless spirit of innovation that continues to inspire generations of musicians.

JAY COLLINS

The saxophone player of choice for famous artists Gregg Allman, Levon Helm, Steely Dan’s Donald Fagen, and the band Little Feat, Jay Collins played on 2 Grammy-winning recordings with Levon Helm, and a platinum-selling DVD with the Allman Brothers Band (Live at the Beacon Theater).

In an era where most learn to play music in a school, Jay Collins is one of those increasingly rare musicians who mostly learned to play, “on the bandstand” from older, more established musicians. He was the horn arranger, saxophone player, and Musical Director for the Gregg Allman Band, a gig he held for 15 years. He currently fronts his own bands Northern Resistance and Gravy

Train on vocals, keyboard, and saxophones throughout the NY area, as well as performing and arranging with the horn section in the Helm

Family Band from Woodstock NY. Jay also toured with The Dukes of September, a collective featuring Donald Fagen, Boz Scaggs, and

Michael McDonald, and more recently, with the legendary band, Little Feat, playing in the horn section and doing arrangements for the group.

“He has a killer tone...”-Gregg Allman.

Collins is also proud of his work with other musicians like Ray LaMontagne, British soul man James Hunter, latin-jazz drummer Bobby Sanabria, and jazz artists Jacky Terrasson and Andrew Hill to name only few. He continues to be a staple of the recording and performing scene in the Hudson Valley and beyond.

Special guest Ashley Kahn is a two-time Grammy-winning music historian and author, a prolific writer of album liner notes, and a producer of recordings and documentaries. Hisbooks include titles on legendary albums: Days of Miracle and Wonder (on Paul Simon’s Graceland), A Love Supreme (John Coltrane), and Kind of Blue (Miles Davis);and a record label (The House That Trane Built: The Story of Impulse Records); and Carlos Santana’s autobiography The Universal Tone. He has received numerous honors including a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Jazz Journalists Association in 2023. He teaches at New York University’s Clive Davis Institute for Recorded Music and speaks at a variety of music festivals, conservatories, and music programs around the world.
