ABOUT
Andrew is a composer, keyboard improviser and vocalist with a background in jazz and an appetite for musical exploration. Since finishing a degree in jazz piano with four years of classical minor at William Paterson University in 2003 Andrew has continued to develop his skills through a wide variety of performances and creative projects from film composing to free improvisation. He has participated in workshops at the School for Improvisational Music and studied piano, improvisation and composition with Ralph Alessi, Jason Moran and the legendary Clark Terry. Since 2008 he has studied North Indian classical music, traveling three times to Kolkata, India where he learns voice from Smt. Madhumita Saha and tabla drumming from Pt. Samar Saha. He has performed in India and with his teachers in the US and Canada. As a teacher Andrew believes that each student can gain great benefit from the musical learning process and strives to present his students with exciting challenges, making the insights he has gained in his travels and performance experience available to everyone he teaches.
