Art Lillard's Blue Heaven

Art Lillard’s Blue Heaven is a six-piece band with a big-band sound. This energetic, tasteful swing and blues ensemble has been playing in New York and surrounding areas since 1998. The group consists of trumpet, trombone, tenor saxophone, guitar or piano, bass, and drums. Led by drummer, composer, and arranger Art Lillard, Blue Heaven plays a varietyof swing standards and not-so-standard swing, blues, and Latin numbers, written by such luminaries as Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Jelly Roll Morton, Antonio Carlos Jobim, and Lester Young. The band's repertoire also includes American Songbook standards and original tunes by Lillard and some of his musical colleagues. Jazz composer, arranger, bandleader, and drummer Art Lillard originally hails from Miami, where he began studying music and played with the great jazz master Ira Sullivan.
