Ertugrul Erkisi, Aslihan Erkisi, and Fatih Bayram are Turkish musicians on a shared journey to celebrate and share the beauty of Middle Eastern and Mediterranean music. Their collaborative efforts are fueled by a love for the cultural tapestry they represent.
Witness the magic as traditional instruments take on a new dimension. The innovative use of Tambour, Oud, Guitar, and Klasik Kemence breathes life into age-old melodies, creating a symphony that speaks to the soul with a contemporary flair.
Aslihan Erkisi
Aslihan Erkisi is an award winning professional singer, composer, choir director, Kemenche and Qanun player and a scholar of music education. She has many years of Music academia up her sleeve; She has a first place graduation degree at Istanbul Technical University, which is the most respectable Turkish Music Conservatory in 2008. Followed by a Master’s degree in 2010 in the department of Education Sciences at Yeditepe University. Along with contributing to publications, music albums, and taking part in prestigious competitions. in addition to producing albums, Aslihan has performed solo concerts in many countries around the world. Recently, she has also been involved in a concert series project alongside Ara Dinkjian.
Ertuğrul Erkisi
Ertuğrul Erkişi is an award winning artist, renowned singer, composer, instrumentalist and producer of traditional Turkish music. Ertuğrul’s accomplishments in his field grew out of his passion and lifelong devotion to music which began with his comprehensive education. From 1990 to 1996, Ertuğrul completed undergraduate studies at the Turkish Music Conservatory in Izmir, Turkey. Thereafter, in 1999 he completed his master’s degree in Turkish Music at Ege University Institute of Social Sciences. Ertuğrul is also pursuing a PhD in Musicology. Mr. Erkişi has performed nationally and internationally for the past twenty years.
Fatih Bayram
Fatih Bayram is a musician, producer and sound director. He's been performing with various ensembles in New York and New Jersey since 2006. He has played classical Turkish music, Turkish folk music, and contemporary Turkish music with musicians all around the United States, including Chicago, Boston, Los Angeles, Houston, Washington DC, Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New Jersey, and New York. He has introduced the sound of Turkish folk and popular music to many at intercultural gatherings and festivals around the States as well as in Canada.
Baklava Express is a NYC based Middle Eastern fusion project, led by Oud player Josh Kaye. The band performs original music, influenced by the traditions of the Arab world, Turkey, and Greece, as well as Jazz, Flamenco, Rock, and Eastern European Folk music. The eclectic influences and vast differences in the musical backgrounds of its members have created a group whose style is distinct, yet genre defiant.
