Join singer-songwriter Kyle Morgan for an in-depth study of country music's hardest drinking, Baptist preaching brother duo. Regulars on The Grand Ole Opry in the late 50's and early 60's, the Alabama-born Louvins astounded listeners with their close harmony singing. Ira, the elder, played a glued-together mandolin (he was known to get drunk and smash it on stage), and sang lead on verses only swoop up to impossible heights on choruses with his younger brother Charlie taking over the melody below. We'll explore what makes the Louvin's arrangements so uniquely beautiful by learning a handful of their classic songs.

Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter Kyle Morgan grew up in central Pennsylvania, where he spent countless Sunday mornings amidst the broken strains and coffee breath of his church congregation. His first record, Starcrossed Losers, became the alias under which he would go on to release two more, Bind Us Anew and Strange Hesitations, each featuring his distinctive conglomeration of Americana styles, from stripped-down acoustic ballads and love-lorn parlor laments to roaring alt-country and throwback 60’s rock’n’roll.
