East of the Sun EP release show & short film screening!

Come celebrate the release of Pleasant Peasant's new EP, East of the Sun. The 4-song project features two original songs and two reinterpreted Appalachian folk tunes, all to be set against the backdrop of a 20-minute visual companion movie directed by local filmmaker Willow Nichols. Expect entrancing live performances, ethereal music, and stunning photography, plus bizarre stories about Norwegian fairy tales and New Orleans bookstores.

Pleasant Peasant is the moniker of Brooklyn-based experimental folk musician Gavi Kutliroff. His music is an eclectic, three-pronged blend between ancient traditional styles, modern songwriting sensibilities, and deep, hypnotic soundscapes that float somewhere between jazz and the natural world. Often playing with improvisation in both performance and production, he creates a mood of spiritual melancholy that captures the experience of connection and disconnection with the weird and wild world of today.
